A call to action for C.R.’s new mayor

Congratulations to our new mayor in winning the election. Setting priorities, taking action and then follow through is now a given.
One of Mayor Ron Corbett's first actions was telling the Library Board of Trustees to get off their duff and pick a new library site (for City Council's consideration). I say they should select the Emerald Knights location.
There's no chance for a flood, the city wouldn't lose an important tax base and it would be near the Masonic Library and History Museum. Also, it would improve the general area.
Don't locate it where The Gazette and KCRG-TV9 buildings now stand just because someone thinks of that site as being close to the downtown “core area.”
Downtown District President Doug Neumann continues to press for a new parkade even though the Republic Parking System states it is not needed. This issue should be at the bottom of the page until more important needs are eliminated. Finally, please note the nine “memorial trees” at the Czech National Cemetery are still standing tall. They were to be cut down because a new funeral home was being built on Bowling Street and a new sidewalk had to be put in. Apparently someone had the courage to stop this folly and pass on the trees' destruction. Amen to that.
