7 deadly sins of the Occupy moment
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 24, 2011 12:05 pm
You've read the stories, heard the reports and probably watched video covering the Occupy Wall Street movement. Now sit back for a minute and think about what you've watched, listened to and read.
What you are witnessing is a bunch of people out in parks (instead of going to work or attending school), shouting take from the rich; stating it's not fair that some people make a million dollars a year while some make $50,000; demanding that income be redistributed; insisting that loans be forgiven; issuing the false claim that all banks and corporate chief executive officers are inherently evil.
The true evil is in those arguments. You see ladies and gentlemen, all of the above are complaints based in greed, envy and sloth. Every one of them. They're deadly sins.
“We need to take from the rich ...” - Greed
“It's not fair that somebody makes a million dollars ...” - Envy
“Income needs to be redistributed ...” - Sloth
For those of you who live in University Heights, sloth in this instance means being unwilling to use your talents and gifts and provide for your family.
The occupy protesters are delving into the seven deadly sins, not positive change.
