4F redistricting plan will satisfy majority

The Iowa City Community School District Redistricting Committee approved a scenario (4F) to bring before the school board. It adequately meets the criteria the committee was given. It has worked tirelessly and has been dedicated on behalf of the community. The committee overwhelmingly recommended scenario 4F, but the previous scenarios are still being considered by the school board.
Scenario 4F would best balance our two excellent, comprehensive high schools while maintaining fiscal responsibility. The 4F elementary school scenario is the most well-rounded plan yet. The committee truly listened to public feedback and responded to the loud cry to keep neighborhood schools intact.
While it is true that the entire community cannot be satisfied, we feel confident that 4F will satisfy the vast majority. As the school board discusses this issue, please consider that the committee was designated to represent the community. Its 66 percent majority vote echoes ours: We support 4F.
