Make a peace sign collage

Collage comes from the French word coller, which means to glue. It's a form of art that brings together different elements and creates an image. The art of collage was pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Collage artists use anything from yarn to trash from the side of the road, to blocks of wood to old magazines. What items can you collect to make a collage?

This craft is a peace sign collage that you can make with scissors, glue, paper, old magazines, junk mail or old newspapers you have around your house. But feel free to collect different materials and collage with those. What does a peace sign look like made out of lawn cuttings or leaves?

Step 1:

Gather together old newspapers or magazines and comb through them looking for pictures and colors that strike your fancy. Cut them up into small cubes and make a pile.

Step 2:

On a piece of paper, trace out a peace sign. Make sure it is thick enough that you can collage on top of it.

Step 3:

Glue together your bits of magazine and newspaper. Use different color patterns. Or try layering different types of paper.
