Kids Cooking: Make steak fajitas with us!
Once a month, The Gazette’s host and guest chefs prepare and present an easy-to-follow recipe

“Little Everett” and Everie made healthy steak fajitas for Kids Cooking with their parents Kaitlin Glidden and Everett Aaron Brown IV.
Once a month, our host and guest chefs prepare and present an easy-to-follow recipe. This program will encourage skill building and activity as a family — all around the theme of food and food preparation. New shows are posted about once a month.
The family started by talking about what they like to do — and eat — as a family. Little Everett’s favorite food to make at home is pizza, while Everie likes “special toast” with butter, cinnamon and sugar and charcuterie boards with meat and cheese.
The family also enjoys going to the M.A.C. gym together where Little Everett learned to swim before his dad!
Ingredients:
- Steak
- Peppers
- Olive oil
- Lime juice
- Ground cumin
- Garlic
- Salt
- Ground pepper
Directions:
- Start by cutting the steak in to thin strips.
- Put the meat in a plastic storage bag to marinate.
- Slice vegetables and put in a plastic storage bag separate from the steak.
- Divide the sauce in to the steak and vegetable bags and refrigerate for one to two hours.
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Put vegetables in to skillet and cook until tender for about five minutes.
- Remove vegetables from skillet and transfer to plate or pan.
- Add steak strips to the same skillet and cook on medium heat for 7 to 10 minutes.
- Add vegetables back in to the skillet and warm it for one to two minutes.
- Warm tortillas.
- Fill tortillas with meat and vegetables and enjoy!
