Xavier High School students celebrate inner beauty

Feb. 27, 2012 9:30 am
The week of February 27 is "Inner Beauty Week" at Xavier High School. Sponsored by the school's Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.) group, the week was designed to remind students that a positive self-image and respect for self and others are the ultimate accessories for any season.
The week of empowerment begins with Mirrorless Monday: all of the mirrors in the school restrooms have been covered. In a society obsessed with looks, it's important and necessary to take a moment to recall that it's truly what is on the inside that counts. The week continues with "Feel Good" buttons on Tuesday, Positive Message Music on Thursday, and Warm and Fuzzy Friday.
As in previous years, S.A.D.D. is also encouraging students to be comfortable in their "genes," not the denim jeans, but the ones their family gave them. To support this effort, the group is collecting gently used jeans (or pants) to donate to Bridgehaven in Cedar Rapids, IA (http://www.bridgehavencr.org/).
