World of Technology girls' summer program at Mount Mercy

Mount Mercy University is pleased to announce the first ExploreU@MMU World of Technology summer program for middle school girls completing 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The program runs June 11 – 22 on Mount Mercy's campus.

This two-week program supported by Mount Mercy University and Giacoletto Foundation is designed to help young girls learn math and computer science skills while having fun. During the program, students will use Scratch software to analyze patterns and learn the fundamentals of programming while having fun.

World of Technology will teach important mathematical and computational ideas while also helping students think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Participants will learn about prime numbers and pattern matching while integrating math and computer science. This program will also engage students, open their eyes to math and science in the world around them, teach both ideas and skills, and ignite their interest in learning.

The program opens on June 11 at 8:30 a.m. in Donnelly Hall 128. Parents are welcome to attend the first 30 minutes to get a chance to meet the mentors, professors and fellow participants. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook, pens, pencils and scissors.
