Students, staff hope to create an annual community project called ‘Wolfpack Gives Back’

MARION — Vernon Middle School is hosting its first-ever community project Wednesday and students and staff hope to turn it in to an annual tradition called “Wolfpack Gives Back” after the school’s mascot.
The community project is a fundraiser for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The children’s hospital was chosen because a Vernon student is currently receiving treatment at the hospital and the school wanted to do something to show its support.
Wednesday morning, students will be able to purchase tickets for $1 to play in inflatables from Space Walk, a party equipment rental service in Cedar Rapids. The proceeds from ticket sales will go to the hospital.
Community members can make a donation by mailing a check to Vernon Middle School or stopping by the main office at 1350 Fourth Ave., Marion.
