University of Iowa officials next week will request state regents approval to name the new addition to Carver-Hawkeye Arena the Dale and Marilyn Howard Family Pavilion.
The Howards gave $5 million to support the recently completed project. The state Board of Regents meets Tuesday in West Des Moines.
The new addition includes practice gyms for the basketball teams and women's volleyball team, as well as new and improved strength and conditioning space for UI teams.
Dale Howard, who earned his UI degree in physical education in 1955, is owner and president of Dale Howard, Inc., an automobile dealership in Iowa Falls. Dale and Marilyn Howard have been longtime friends of the Iowa Hawkeyes and are befitting of such recognition, UI officials said in the meeting information, released Thursday.
