The University of Iowa paid $1.5 million to settle a lawsuit charging medical negligence at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The UI paid the money to Nancy and Michael Kammerer, according to documents released by the UI Wednesday. The husband and wife alleged in a 2009 lawsuit filed in Johnson County that Nancy Kammerer was the victim of medical negligence while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The settlement releases the state of Iowa, the hospital and its employees from liability, and states that liability is “expressly denied” by the released parties.
