IOWA CITY — When Halloween is over, don’t toss your Jack-O-Lanterns in the garbage — let The Iowa Children’s Museum toss them from up high instead at Jack Splat, a free outdoor event that provides a high-flying finale to the season.
The Iowa Children’s Museum team will be throwing pumpkins off the parking ramp in Chauncey Swan Park, 405 E. Washington St., in downtown Iowa City on Saturday, Nov. 4, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Participants can drop off their pumpkins and set up a blanket or lawn chairs nearby to get the best view of pumpkin splats, according to a news release from the museum.
Afterward, there will be outdoor activities, singalongs and a warm breakfast from local food vendors.
All pumpkins must be gutted and should not have any decorations or paint on them. Activities will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the splats will begin at 10 a.m.
