AMES - One of the four search firms that state regents were considering to lead the search for Iowa State University's next president has withdrawn from consideration.
R. William Funk & Associates informed the state Board of Regents Monday of the decision to withdraw their proposal. Bill Funk, president of the search firm, noted in his note to the regents that the firm had not had any additional correspondence with the board since an interview in April.
The regents meet June 8 in Iowa City and likely will chose a firm to lead the ISU presidential search at that meeting. The board interviewed four firms in April, in a process to recruit a successor to Gregory Geoffroy, who will step down no later than July 31, 2012, after a ten-year tenure.
Along with Funk and Associates, which is the firm that lead the search resulting in Geoffroy's hiring, the board also interviewed: Isaacson, Miller, based in Boston; Greenwood/Asher & Associates, Inc., with offices in Washington, D.C. and Florida; and Parker Executive Search, based in Atlanta.
