A meeting will be held Sept. 20 about the future of the Roosevelt Elementary School property.
The Iowa City school district is closing the school, located at 611 Greenwood Dr., at the end of this school year and opening a new school a few miles to the west.
Superintendent Stephen Murley will be at the meeting, which was organized by the Miller-Orchard Neighborhood Association. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the school's gym.
Residents will be able to give their opinions of what they want to be done with the property. Many people who live near the school opposed the decision to close it.
The school district has not announced what it will do with the property. In March, Murley said an appraisal of the property came in significantly lower than expected, at $770,000.
