MARION - The Marion Independent School District received $813,998 from the Grant Wood Area Education Agency in special education, media, technology and other educational support services during the 2015-16 fiscal year, school board members were told this week.
The news came as part of a report the agency compiles and delivers every four years to districts in its service area. Grant Wood Board President Jim Green and two staff members delivered the report to the Marion school board.
The Marion district also made $77,318 in cooperative purchases, with a savings of $19,474, in 2015-16 through a consortium affiliated with the area education agency.
The Marion district gets its internet connection through Grant Wood and was credited with 779,688 uses of agency online resources in 2015-16.
The Grant Wood Area Education Agency serves more than 70,000 students in seven counties.
