MARION - The Marion Independent School District, after nearly a year of work and committee recommendations, has its first multiyear facilities plan.
The Marion school board this week approved a document with specific projects identified for each of the next five construction seasons, plus three pages of potential projects for years after that.
Projects listed for 2017 include a joint effort with the city of Marion to replace tennis courts, a lift for the auditorium and work on baseball, softball and soccer press boxes.
Those projects were top-priority recommendations from the district's athletics and performing arts committees.
Next Marion school board meeting will be a 4:30 p.m. work session Sept. 12. The board will hold its annual organizational meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 26.
