How long have you been at The Gazette?
I have been at The Gazette for six years. Before that I was with our company working in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Where are you from and where did you go to school?
I’m from Cedar Rapids — I grew up here. I graduated from Kennedy High School and Olivet Nazarene University.
Describe your beat.
I cover what happens in your classrooms, what matters to your families about education and how your school board makes decisions.
What do you like about being the K-12 Education Reporter?
I like going into classrooms and learning how kids are being taught.
Share a fun fact about yourself.
I share a birthday with my great grandmother — March 12. She was Czech and I remember her speaking Czech quite often and making kolaches all the time.
