Jefferson Decathlon Team Places Fifth at National Contest

The Jefferson High School Academic Decathlon team placed fifth at the national competition held last week in Omaha. Team member Braden Hopkins also finished fifth in the individual awards, earning medals in the categories of music, art and language and literature. Other team members are Tara Naber, Leah Barshinger, Amy Smith, Casey Dague, John Listebarger, Thomas Petersen, and Riannon Coomtz.
Academic Decathlon is a national scholastic competition for high schools that involves the study of 10 categories. This is the 13th time in the past 14 years that Jefferson has qualified for the national contest.
