Iowa State University reaches record enrollment this fall

Iowa State University marked its highest-ever enrollment this fall, with 27,945 students, officials announced today. That's an increase of more than 4 percent from last fall.
The University of Northern Iowa also saw an enrollment increase this fall, the third consecutive boost. UNI's official fall 2009 enrollment is 13,080, a 1.3 percent increase last year, or 172 students.
The University of Iowa saw a slight enrollment decrease this fall, of less than 1 percent. Total enrollment this fall is 30,328, a decrease of 233 students from last fall's 30,561, officials said today.
Undergraduate enrollment at the UI was down 249 - from 20,824 to 20,575. Graduate enrollment is up 131 students, from 5,588 to 5,719.
ISU has 1,089 more students on campus this fall. That breaks down by: 914 more undergraduates, 33 more veterinary medicine students, and 142 more graduate students.
ISU also set enrollment records this fall for international students, with 3,017, an increase of 520 students; record graduate student enrollment, at 4,860, an increase of 142; record veterinary medicine enrollment, at 564; and record minority student enrollment of 2,533, which equals 9.1 percent of the overall student body. That's 216 more minority students than last fall.
