Iowa school planning student wake-up calls

MARSHALLTOWN - The Marshalltown School District is planning to make wake-up calls to nearly 250 Marshalltown High School students who aren't making it to school on time.
Students who have been late at least five times since March will be on the list for automated calls between 6:30 a.m.
and 6:45 a.m.
The message will include some morning cheer: 'It's time to get up and enjoy the day.' High school dean of students Lisa Wunn said students often say they don't have alarms, and said she's hoping the wake-up calls will solve that problem.
The calls soon will start as a test to see whether they'll be continued next fall. Parents may sign up to get their children on or off the list.
