IOWA CITY - Iowa City school district Superintendent Stephen Murley will meet with parents to discuss complaints that elementary school lunchtimes are too short.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at Shimek Elementary School, 1400 Grissell Pl., Iowa City.
Elementary school students are given 15 minutes for lunch, which is less than many schools nationally and locally.
Dozens of parents have signed a letter saying that is not enough time for kids to eat, promotes poor eating habits and shorts students on the social benefits of lunching with their peers.
