MARION - The Linn-Mar school board this week named Jim Green, a former board member and past board president, to fill a vacant seat on the board created by the resignation of Todd Hutcheson. Hutcheson's four-year term will expire in September.
Green served on the Linn-Mar school board from 1992 to 2009. He was elected to terms as president and vice president and also served on most board committees.
Green is president of the Grant Wood Area Education Association. He is in his 21st year on the agency's board and also serves on the Iowa Association of School Boards board of directors.
Green will be sworn in at the next Linn-Mar board meeting Dec. 12.
Also this week, Linn-Mar administrators announced they were planning to use a portable facility to house two classes next fall at Indian Creek Elementary School.
The move, along with the opening of six classrooms at Westfield Elementary School, addresses growing enrollment in the district.
