The ousted head of a nonprofit organization that helps disabled people in Eastern Iowa also lost his teaching position at Kirkwood Community College after it was revealed he let a volunteer use his work cellphone and office so she could take explicit photos.
Scott Gill, of Iowa City, lost his job in October as executive director of Access 2 Independence of the Eastern Iowa Corridor. The Des Moines Register last month reported that Gill lost that job after he let a volunteer use his work cellphone to take explicit pictures of her and her boyfriend. The information came out when Gill testified at his unemployment benefits hearing.
Kirkwood officials said upon seeing those news reports, they terminated Gill due to concerns regarding his judgement and unethical behavior. Gill was an adjunct instructor in Kirkwood's social sciences department from August 2009 to March 2013.
There had been no complaints from Kirkwood students regarding Gill, college officials said.
