Combined Efforts Theatre to present 'Vaudeville Dreams' at City High School
From a Media Release
Dec. 13, 2011 6:41 am
Vaudeville Dreams will be presented on Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17 at 7:30 in the City High Little Theatre.
Tickets are $5 at the door.
The original play by Janet Schlapkohl, MFA playwright candidate and former City High special education teacher, is the story of a boy who uses his imagination to create a world of Vaudeville performances in order to try to make sense of his world. The play will showcase the talents of 31 actors from Iowa City including regular education and special education students from City High as well as members of the community.
The mission of Combined Efforts Theatre is “to create and perform theatre that is excellent and compelling, with original scripts written for actors, musicians and dancers-individuals with and without special needs-that focuses on their strengths in a collaborative effort.” The play will also include song and dance in what promises to be a “dazzling display designed to educate, edify, amaze and uplift.”
