CEDAR RAPIDS -- Coe College has joined the ranks of Iowa universities and colleges to offer special license plates.
Coe alumni and friends living in Iowa can show school spirit with official Coe plates. The specialty plates featuring Kohawk crimson and gold were recently introduced by the Iowa Department of Transportation and are available through each county treasurer's office, Coe officials said.
Personalized Coe plates are available for a $50 one-time fee, plus a $5 annual validation fee and an annual registration fee. Numbered Coe plates are available for a $25 one-time cost, plus a $5 annual validation fee and an annual registration fee. Eligible vehicles include passenger cars, trucks, trailers and travel trailers.
The license plates were made possible through funds awarded to the Coe Alumni Association when Coe Football Coach Steve Staker was named the 2009 Liberty Mutual National Coach of the Year for NCAA Division III.
“Nearly 40 percent of Coe alumni live in Iowa, and we believe Kohawks across the state will exhibit their Coe pride by displaying the new license plates," Director of Alumni Programs Jean Johnson said.
