Clear Creek Amana interim superintendent steps down to pursue state Senate seat
Next superintendent Corey Seymour begins July 1

Apr. 28, 2022 12:08 pm
OXFORD — Joseph Brown has resigned as interim superintendent of the Clear Creek Amana School District two months before the end of his contract to focus instead on running for the state Senate.
At a special meeting Wednesday, the Clear Creek Amana school board accepted Brown's resignation and thanked him for his service over the past eight months. Brown is running as a Democrat against Chris Cournoyer, an incumbent Republican, in Senate District 35 this year.
Matt Leeman, associate superintendent for the district, has agreed to serve as the district's leader until July 1, when Corey Seymour will start as the district superintendent.
Seymour was named next superintendent in February. He has 29 years of experience in education, working to improve equity and cultural proficiency and college and career readiness.
Brown, a native of Clinton, was appointed as interim superintendent for the 2021-22 school year.
Tim Kuehl, superintendent of Clear Creek Amana schools since 2013, left the district July 1, 2021, to become superintendent of the East Union and Murray school districts in Afton and Murray in southwest Iowa.
