CEDAR RAPIDS — Teachers in the Cedar Rapids Community School District will see a 3 percent base wage increase for the 2024-25 school year, a figure the Cedar Rapids school board approved Monday evening.
The 3 percent increase comes in an agreement between the Cedar Rapids Education Association — which represents teachers in the district — and school officials.
The agreement will add an estimated cost of almost $3 million to the school district. The total cost of all salaries for teachers in the Cedar Rapids Community School District next year will be $101.7 million, according to board documents. This also includes the cost to the district for the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System and the Federal Insurance Contributions Act — or FICA, a federal payroll tax.
To get a better look at the scope of teacher workforce issues before the district, a one-time incentive of $1,000 is being offered to employees in bargaining unit positions who submit a resignation or a signed contract within seven days of the issuance of their contract.
