Jan. 27, 2011 6:25 am
The Cedar Rapids Council PTA will host a moderated panel discussion on bullying Feb. 22. Panelists will include Candace Lynch and Paul Hayes, Student Services facilitators for the Cedar Rapids Community School District, and Isaiah Jones of Mad Dads. The forum will be held at McKinley Middle School Auditorium, 620 10th Street SE, from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
“Bullying is a nationwide problem that can affect people in all areas of life. We can make a difference in our community and deal with this problem head-on, changing the climate that makes bullying possible,” noted Shellie Pike, City PTA President. “Based on feedback from Cedar Rapids PTAs, bullying is the top issue of concern for many in our community and we are pleased to present a forum that will provide information on school district policies and procedures on bullying, address strategies for parents and kids who are dealing with bullying, and share ways to reduce and prevent bullying now and in the future.”
Community members may email suggested questions through Feb. 14 to
