VAN METER, Iowa (AP) - The fate of Osama bin Laden became a teaching moment for some Iowa students who may not have understood why his death at the hands of U.S. Navy assault team was big news.
In Van Meter on Monday, high school students in Kent Miller's world history class watched screen projections of the World Trade Center's twin towers. Officials have said bin Laden was the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks.
According to The Des Moines Register, the 27-year-old Miller says he remembers watching television as a second hijacked plane hit one of the towers. He was in high school.
Miller asked whether justice had been served with the death of bin Laden.
The answer from one 16-year-old, Claire Kinley, was: "America has won, once again, and good beat evil."
