MARION -- Grab your crayons and paper! The 2010 Calendar Art Contest entries are due to the Cedar Rapids Linn County Solid Waste Agency Friday.
The contest is open to all Linn County students attending kindergarten through twelfth grade. The 2010 calendar theme is “living.together. green” in hopes of inspiring others to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Original artwork submitted should not exceed 8.5 inches tall x 11 inches wide.
One school will win $500 for art supplies, drawn from the list of schools who are represented by students submitting calendar art contest entries. Each calendar month will feature one student's artwork, with 13 entries selected for calendar art based on creativity, originality and inspiring others to “go green.”
Each calendar art contest winner receives a classroom visit from the Agency mascot, Mr. Earth, who will present them with an award certificate, classroom goodies and 15 calendars for family and friends. In addition to calendar art winners, 13 entries will be selected for honorable mentions and will be presented with an award certificate, classroom goodies and 10 calendars for family and friends.
The Calendar Art Contest Entry form can be found at www.solidwasteagency.org Winners will be notified by Oct. 30.
