THE STORY: ALI AND SOME PANTHERS, IN THE HOUSE:
Kirkwood Welcomes UNI Seniors, Stars of NCAA 2010 Tournament-for Benefit Scrimmage at Johnson Hall
Fresh from a historic showing in the NCAA National Tournament, Kirkwood Community College Athletics will host a special scrimmage featuring the University of Northern Iowa Panthers senior players. That roster will, of course include Eagles alumnus Ali Faroukmanesh, along with several of his Sweet 16 teammates. They will play several other Kirkwood Eagles Basketball alumni from the past several years:
When: Tues May 4, 7 p.m.
Where: Johnson Hall, Cedar Rapids Campus
Who: UNI Seniors (Farokhmanesh/Rodenberg) vs. Other Kirkwood Men's BB Alum (Bryan Petersen, Jube Moor, Shaun Logan, etc)
Cost is $5 per person at the door; children 5 and under will be admitted free.
*Concessions/refreshments will be available. There is an autograph session planned immediately after the game.
OTHER FACTS:
Proceeds will help defray travel costs for the UNI seniors, with all remaining funds going to the Kirkwood Athletics Scholarship Fund. This is part of “farewell tour” stops across Iowa for the graduating Panthers.
Quote from Head Coach Doug Wagemester: “We are so proud of Ali as a former Kirkwood Eagle and proud as Iowans for how those Panthers did in the tournament this year. This will be a great time celebrating a fantastic year with some fine young men.”
