Lisbon’s Hunter Clark serves as his toughest critic. He wasn’t satisfied with his performance but he powered Lisbon to a 7-3 win over Belle Plaine in a district semifinal, striking out 10 in six innings.
Lisbon battled second-seeded Council Bluffs St. Albert close for more than five innings. The Falcons pulled away with a four-run sixth and advanced to the Class 1A semifinals.
Lisbon scored in every inning and topped Maquoketa Valley, 9-2, in the Class 1A Substate 3 title Tuesday night at Solon. The Lions will make their eighth state appearance and first since a runner-up finish in 2018.
Lisbon beat Hillcrest Academy, 4-2, in a Class 1A district baseball final.
