The quality of Iowa’s water is a top environmental concern in Iowa, and for many Iowans, there can be a feeling of helplessness. That’s where Heather Wilson comes in. Her work at the Izaak Walton League strives to remove the “barriers of entry” to make water quality testing and advocacy more accessible to the public.
The environmental nonprofit Wings2Water has awarded $26,000 to local organizations whose projects aim to address water quality in the Mississippi River watershed.

The refuge, cradled in the Driftless Area and bordered by steep wooded bluffs, includes nearly 250,000 acres of floodplain forests, braided river channels, marshes and prairie that provides habitat to more than 300 bird species.

The Red Cedar chapter of the Izaak Walton league of America in Vinton will host an outdoor activities day on Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m.
