WBB: Iowa State's comeback falls short vs. Georgia

SPOKANE, Wash. - Anne Marie Armstrong scored the go-ahead basket with 58 seconds left as Georgia survived blowing a 14-point lead in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Spokane, Wash. to beat Iowa State 65-60.

Fourth-seed Georgia (27-6) advances to face either top-seed Stanford or eight-seed Michigan in the regional semifinals. Shacobia Barbee scored 20 points - including three free throws in the final 27 seconds - to lead the Bulldogs, while Armstrong added 13 points.

Anna Prins scored 23 points to lead Iowa State (24-9). Chelsea Poppens finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds.

Armstrong's layup gave Georgia a 60-59 advantage and Barbee's free throws made it 63-59 with 13 seconds to go. Jasmine James sealed the game for Georgia with a layup with five seconds left.

Georgia dominated the first 12 minutes of the second half, turning a 32-all halftime tie into a 51-37 lead on Tiaria Griffin's 3-pointer with 8:54 remaining. The Cyclones stormed back with a 19-1 run, taking a 56-52 lead on Prins' 3-pointer with 2:32 left.
