Former Iowa State standout and coach Cael Sanderson told NCAA.com that he is unsure about continuing his comeback on the international wrestling mat.
Sanderson went 4-2 at the World Championships last weekend in Istanbul, Turkey, finishing fifth at 185 pounds. It was his first world competition since winning gold at the 2004 Olympics.
“I'm not sure,” Sanderson told NCAA.com of continuing the quest. “With this performance, I want to go climb in a hole somewhere. Going through this experience will definitely help me be a better coach, get a better feel for this system.
“I don't know. If I can't get out there and make it happen, I don't want to take that spot.”
