ISU's Reeves named Big 12 special teams player of week
Oct. 4, 2010 11:33 am
Iowa State sophomore defensive back Jeremy Reeves has been named the Big 12 Conference's special teams player of the week for his performance in the Cyclones' victory over Texas Tech Saturday, league officials said Monday.
Reeves, a native of Allen, Texas, made a career-high 10 tackles and preserved Iowa State's 52-38 win over Texas Tech by returning an onside kick 42 yards for a touchdown after the Red Raiders had cut ISU's lead to seven.
Reeves' return was Iowa State's first kickoff return for a score since the last game of the 1994 season and only the second in Jack Trice Stadium, which was built in 1975. Luther Blue took a return back for a score against Nebraska in 1976.
It was Reeves' second touchdown in two weeks after he returned an interception 94 yards for a touchdown in Iowa State's win over Northern Iowa.
