ISU's Long arrested again

Apr. 16, 2010 2:00 pm
According to published reports, Iowa State red-shirt freshman Andrew Long has been arrested a second time for an alcohol related offense.
Long, 20, was an NCAA runner-up at 125 pounds for the Cyclones at last month's NCAA Division I Championships in Omaha, Neb. He was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a fake ID at 3 a.m. Sunday, April 11, in Ames. It's his second arrest for an alcohol-related incident since August when he was charged with unlawful use of a driver's license, being on the premises of a bar while underage, and harassment of a public official.
Long allegedly ran from an approaching officer while he was standing in public. He was later found at a different location. An officer administered sobriety and breath tests and determined Long was intoxicated. Shortly after officers discovered a false New Hampshire drivers license in his possession.
In his first arrest in August of 2009, Long was reportedly involved in a bar fight. When police arrived for that, Long was identified by a bar employee. When confronted by police he gave them a different name and license. Police discovered his true identity when he told them he was an ISU wrestler and they matched his picture to his real name from his profile online. He reportedly became combative and was tased by Ames police.
