ISU's Bolte nominated for NCAA award

Iowa State women's basketball player Kelsey Bolte has been nominated for the 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

The award acknowledges and commemorates the highest levels of achievement by female student-athletes from around the country.

Bolte, who was recently named Iowa State's female student-athlete of the year, posted one of the best seasons in school history as a senior. She helped Iowa State to its fifth straight NCAA tournament and a 22-11 record.

The sharpshooting guard earned Associated Press and Women's Basketball Coaches Association honorable mention All-America honors after averaging 16.9 points and 5.2 rebounds. Her 557 points last season ranks fourth in school history.

Bolte was a unanimous All-Big 12 first-team selection, picking up the recognition after finishing third in the league in scoring (18.6) in conference games.

The top 30 (10 from each division) honorees will be announced in late August. The NCAA Woman of the Year for 2011 will be announced during an awards dinner on Oct. 16 in Indianapolis.
