Cyclones open trip to Italy with impressive win

DES MOINES - Penn State transfer Chris Babb scored 16 points and added six steals as Iowa State opened its trip to Italy with a decisive victory.

The Cyclones beat Oleggio Basket 96-55 on Thursday night, opening the second half with a 23-5 run to blow past their Italian opponents.

Melvin Ejim had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Scott Christopherson added 14 points.

Royce White, a transfer from Minnesota, had 12 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Iowa State, which is on its first foreign trip since 2004, open the 2011-12 season on Nov. 12 at home against Lehigh.
