Banks suspended for Insight Bowl

Iowa State University announced Tuesday that starting defensive back Kennard Banks has been suspended for violating unspecified team rules. He will not play in the Insight Bowl game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Thursday, Dec. 31 in Tempe, Ariz.
Banks, a senior who transferred to ISU from Dodge City Community College, has played his last game for the Cyclones, according to Coach Paul Rhoads.
Banks, of Boynton Beach, Fla., had 55 tackles and an interception with five pass break-ups, starting 12 games for Iowa State. He helped the Cyclones to a 6-6 record in Rhoads' first season as ISU's head coach.

AMES, Iowa – Defensive back Kennard Banks has been suspended from the Insight Bowl after violations of team rules.
Banks, a senior from Boynton Beach, Fla., will not participate in any bowl activities and his two-year career with the Cyclones has concluded according to Coach Paul Rhoads.
He started 12 games this season and recorded 55 tackles, one interception and five passes broken up. Banks, a junior college transfer from Dodge City CC, made 18 tackles as a junior playing part of the season with a broken arm.
