Western Dubuque ace Quentin Nauman leads area Class 3A and Class 4A state cross country hopefuls into Wednesday’s state-qualifying meets.
Nauman is the top-ranked boy in 3A. He will headline the field at the Solon state-qualifier.
Area competitors are scattered into three 4A sites (Dubuque, Pleasant Hill and Pleasant Valley) and three in 3A (Pella, Solon and Waverly).
Girls run at 4 p.m., boys at 4:30.
The top three teams and the top 15 individuals from each site advance to the 4A/3A state meet Nov. 1 at Lakeside Golf Course, Fort Dodge.
State-qualifying competition is Thursday in 2A/1A. Those qualifiers will run at state Nov. 2.
