West Delaware wins Class 1A boys’ state bowling title

WATERLOO — West Delaware won its second straight Class 1A boys' state bowling title Monday, knocking down 3,179 pins to edge Charles City by 569 pins.
Hawks senior Jim Shover finished second individually with a score of 507, seven pins behind Louisa-Muscatine sophomore Dustin Beahman.
Vinton-Shellsburg sophomore Cyrus Elwick was eighth at 430.
Louisa-Muscatine swept the girls' titles, but West Delaware's Andrea Salow finished fourth, shooting a 425. The Hawks finished fifth as a team.
Decorah's Maddie Putnam (399) was seventh, West Delaware's Lorna Niedert (389) eighth.
The Class 2A tournament, scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed until Thursday.
