Week 2 roundup: Anamosa snaps losing streak

Trevor Wehling's two-yard touchdown run with 30.9 seconds left lifted Anamosa to a 17-13 prep football win over Oelwein last night, snapping a 26-game losing streak.
The Raiders trailed 13-10 when Wehling, who rushed 33 times for 105 yards, scored on fourth-and-goal.
Kolin Schulte added 49 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 1-yard in the third quarter, giving Anamosa (1-1) a 13-10 lead. Gavin Timp scored the Raiders' first points on a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter.
Austin Duffy led Oelwein (0-2) with 55 yards on 18 rushes.

WEST DELAWARE 35, MAQUOKETA 0
— Coy Roussell rushed for 204 yards on three touchdowns on 29 carries as the Hawks rolled at Maquoketa.
Roussell scored on runs of 46, 7 and 2 yards for the Hawks (2-0). Austin Bishop added a 55-yard touchdown on an end around and Max Ridenour scored on a 3-yard run.
West Delaware, which led 14-0 at halftime, limited the Cardinals to 76 yards, 10 in the first half.

MAQUOKETA VALLEY 50, MONTICELLO 21
— Ryan Parmely rushed 23 times for 198 yards and scored five touchdowns as the Wildcats won a non-district game at Monticello.
Parmely had rushing touchdowns of 64, 24, 8 and 4 yards, and took a screen pass 77 yards for another score. MV quarterback Jeremy Fischer completed 4 of 5 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown.
Monticello quarterback David Gray completed 12 of 22 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Jarrett Easton caught six passes for 109 yards and one score.
The teams were tied 14-14 early in the second quarter, before Maquoketa Valley reeled off 36 unanswered points. The Wildcats led 29-14 at halftime.

CLEAR CREEK AMANA 40, MID-PRAIRIE 6
WEST BRANCH 49, WEST LIBERTY 3
— Luke Lenoch rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns and Lucas Lamont added three scores as the Bears won easily at West Liberty.
The Bears (2-0) used a 12-play, 7-minute drive to open the game but 10 first-half penalties and two turnovers limited West Branch, which led 14-3 at halftime.

DECORAH 23, WAUKON 22
— The Vikings grinded it out on the ground then hung on for a non-districdt win at home.
A 33-yard touchdown pass from Peyton Hesse to Jacob Ronan with 2:20 left — along with a two-point conversion connection — pulled the Indians to within, 23-22, but the Vikings recovered the onsides kick and ran out the clock.
Decorah totaled 243 rushing yards, led by Garrett Wise with 75 and Jacob Leeds with 70, Drake Schuring added 57 and scored a pair of touchdowns.
