Football is the sport of Athlete of the Year finalist Shaun Beyer's future at the University of Iowa, and for good reason.
The Gazette's area Player of the Year is a versatile athlete who totaled 1,535 combined rushing and receiving yards with 16 touchdowns and was also a defensive and special teams standout as the Cougars reached the Class 4A state title game.
Perhaps some of that ability was developed in another sport. Watch the video above as Beyer shares his memories of wrestling as a kid and also reminisces on high school football and track and field career.
Click here to meet the five finalists for Male Athlete of the Year. Look for the winner to be revealed Sunday.
