The Gazette

Megan Maahs and Western Dubuque made the trip to Wells Fargo Arena three straight years as state basketball qualifiers, then added a state volleyball appearance at U.S. Cellular Center last fall.
The Bobcats were basketball runners-up in 2014 and 2015 and Maahs made her presence felt in Des Moines, averaging 14.4 points, 11 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in seven games.
Watch the video above to see what those experiences meant to the UNI women's basketball signee, a Gazette Athlete of the Year finalist.
Be sure to meet the rest of the Female Athlete of the Year finalists and look for the winner to be revealed Sunday.
