Linn-Mar (17-5) vs. Cedar Falls (18-4) at U.S. Cellular Center, 6:30 p.m.
Scouting Report: This is a rematch of a Jan. 8 game that Linn-Mar won at Cedar Falls, 69-61. The Lions have won eight games in a row, Cedar Falls nine. Linn-Mar will want a fast tempo and has five starters who all can shoot the 3-pointer effectively. Iowa Hawkeyes signee Jordan Bohannon is Class 4A's leading scorer (25.0 points per game) and shoots 42.3 perfect from the arc (85 of 201). Western Michigan signee Jared Printy averages 13.5 ppg and 6-foot-4 post Beau Klostermann (who wants to walk on at Northern Iowa) checks in at 14.2 ppg. Cedar Falls has a terrific sophomore point guard in A.J. Green, who averages 16.9 points per game and shoots 43 percent from 3-point land. CF will want to get 6-7 center Tra'Von Fagan heavily involved, as his size could cause undersized Linn-Mar problems. Fagan averages 18.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Linn-Mar has not qualified for the state tournament since 2012, the last year of a record nine-year qualifying run, including winning its first tournament game each year. CF's last state appearance was in 2013, a fourth-place finish.
Iowa City West (18-4) vs. Iowa City High (13-9) at U.S. Cellular Center, 8 p.m.
Scouting Report: These teams played twice in the regular season. West won the first game, 45-31, while City High snapped a 15-game losing streak against its biggest rival with a 63-53 win Feb. 12. West has been to state five years in a row, including three consecutive championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The Trojans were third last season. City High's last appearance was in 2008, a championship. Iowa Hawkeyes commit Connor McCaffery (son of Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery) leads West in scoring at 17.0 points per game. He also averages over five assists per game. Devontae Lane (13.2 PPG) and Wali Parks (13.0 PPG) also are double-figures scorers. City High's five starters average between 8.6 and 11.4 PPG. Micah Martin is a load inside at 6-9 and will likely need to be a big factor for City High to win. Naeem Smith has had a strong season at point guard, averaging 10.3 PPG and 5.2 APG.
