Stephanie Jenks finishes 16th at national cross country
Stephanie Jenks placed 16th Saturday at the 2015 Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships at Balboa Park in San Diego.
Jenks ran the course in 18 minutes, 4.8 seconds, but was disappointed she didn't finish higher.
'It was one off what I wanted,' Jenks said by phone. 'I took off a little slower than I usually do. But I'm happy with it.'
Jenks had placed 10th at the Midwest Regional on Nov. 28 in 17:49.2.
This was her third Foot Locker Nationals race. She placed 15th in 2014 and ninth in 2013.
A junior at Linn-Mar, Jenks will now prepare for track season. After graduation, she will run for the University of California at Berkeley.
Weini Kelati of Leesburg, Va., won the girls race in 17:09.7.
