Area players to watch for the 2016 softball season (with last year's stats and honors):
• KENNEDY BROWN, sr., Iowa City Regina — Batted .462 with 12 doubles and 12 home runs. Scored 45 runs with 41 RBIs and stole 25 bases. Class 2A 1st-team all-state.
• KENDRA COOPER, soph., Lansing Kee — Compiled a 12-5 pitching record with a 1.97 ERA. Struck out 138 batters and walked 24 in 117 1/3 innings. Batted .433 with 13 doubles and 10 home runs, 35 runs and 29 RBIs. Class 1A 1st-team all-state.
• TIANNA DRAHN, sr., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Batted .472 with 39 runs. Stole 51 bases. Class 5A 2nd-team all-state.
• AMBER FISER, sr., Benton Community — Compiled a 26-2 pitching recored with a 0.16 ERA. Struck out 313 batters and walked 29 in 173 2/3 innings. Batted .336 with four home runs and 32 RBIs. Class 3A 1st-team all-state.
• ASHLEY HAMILTON, jr., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Batted .434 with 14 doubles. Scored 36 runs with 38 RBIs. Class 5A 2nd-team all-state.
• BRYN HANRAHAN, jr., Solon — Batted .464 with six doubles and three home runs at Iowa City High. Scored 24 runs with 15 RBIs. Stole 24 bases. Class 5A 2nd-team all-state.
• JESSIE HARDER, sr., Iowa City West — Compiled an 18-4 pitching record with a 0.95 ERA. Struck out 89 batters and walked 21 in 132 1/3 innings. Batted .289 with 24 RBIs. Class 5A 2nd-team all-state.
• KELSEY HORA, jr., Highland — Batted .505 with three triples. Scored 43 runs and stole 48 bases. Class 2A 1st-team all-state.
• AMBER KRAL, sr., Mid-Prairie — Batted .455 with eight doubles and 12 home runs. Scored 38 runs with 71 RBIs. Class 3A 1st-team all-state.
• SYDNEY LAWSON, sr., Solon — Batted .552 with four doubles and five triples. Scored 81 runs with 18 RBIs. Stole 59 bases. Class 3A 1st-team all-state.

• ADARA OPIOLA, sr., Iowa City West — Batted .448 with 10 doubles and six home runs. Scored 45 runs with 52 RBIs. Class 5A 1st-team all-state.
• JESSI PUK, jr., Cedar Rapids Washington — Batted .523 with 16 doubles. Scored 28 runs with 22 RBIs. Stole 21 bases. Class 5A 2nd-team all-state.
• ALEX RATH, sr., Mid-Prairie — Batted .540 with six doubles and four triples. Scored 50 runs with 22 RBIs. Stole 20 bases. Class 3A 1st-team all-state.
• LIBBY RYAN, jr., Mount Vernon — Batted .414 with five doubles. Scored 40 runs with 28 RBIs. Stole 29 bases. Class 3A 1st-team all-state.
• TALEAH SMITH, jr., Iowa City West — Batted .488, scored 47 runs with 12 RBIs. Stole 53 bases. Class 5A 1st-team all-state.
• ALYSSA WIEBEL, sr., Benton Community — Batted .600 with 23 doubles and 21 home runs. Scored 64 runs with 71 RBIs. Compiled a 12-1 pitching record with a 2.40 ERA. Class 3A 1st-team all-state.
