Rivalry Saturday slate nears completion

May. 19, 2016 9:45 am
CEDAR RAPIDS — Small-school girls' basketball powers Springville and Turkey Valley will meet again.
Six games have been locked down for the 2017 version of Rivalry Saturday, event director Scot Moenck confirmed Thursday. Another game or two are likely to be added to the event, slated for Jan. 7 at the U.S. Cellular Center. Last year's event was an eight-gamer.
Turkey Valley edged Springville at last year's Rivalry Saturday, then the Orioles won a one-point thriller in the Class 1A state final on Alyssa Jaeger's late free throws. Both teams return much of their lineup for next season.
A schedule has not yet been determined. Here are the matchups:
* Bellevue vs. Camanche
* Boone vs. Waverly-Shell Rock
* Center Point-Urbana vs. Grinnell
* Marion vs. Linn-Mar
* Montezuma vs. Fairfield
* Springville vs. Turkey Valley
