Recapping North Cedar’s wrestling road trip

IOWA CITY - Last Thursday, the North Cedar wrestling traveled to Iowa City to take on North Linn, Cascade and host Regina.
The Knights lost all three duals.
North Cedar lost to North-Linn in the first dual, 60-24. The first wrestler on the mat was senior Dillon Pierson at heavyweight. Pierson went up against No. 2-ranked Kyler Schott and was pinned in the first period. The next match was Zach Kauffman, a sophomore, at 106 pounds. Kaufman's pinned Heath Moyer in the third period. At 126 pounds, Cole Taylor was pinned by Brady Henderson in the first period. Henderson took Taylor down three times to help accumulate his 15 points before pinning Taylor. The next match, at 132, was David Galloway against Trevor Cherry. Galloway made it to the second period before he was pinned.
North Cedar won the next four matches. At 152, Devon Willis was up 5-4 against Levi Hinton in the second period when he pinned Hinton. Tyler Thurston at 160 pounds escaped Quinton Rechkemmer and then pinned Rechkemmer. Senior Byron Boleyn pinned North Linn's Blake McGraw in the second period after building a 5-0 lead. In the final match, North Cedar's Chase Gallagher won by forfeit.
North Cedar lost, 39-24, in its next match against Cascade. North Cedar's first wrestler on the mat was Kauffman at 106, wrestling Nolan Nonan. Kauffman escaped from Nonan once, but Nonan pinned Kauffman in the first period. Taylor was up next, falling behind 6-1 before getting pinned by Connor Conlin in the second period 120. With nobody to wrestle at 132, Galloway won by forfeit. Also winning by forfeit was Willis at 152. At 160, Thurston lost to Cain Hoffman, 7-0. Boleyn got a takedown and put his opponent on his back with a cradle for three nearfall points, let him roll over and locked up another cradle before switching positions on top and pinning his opponent. At 220, Gallagher won by forfeit. In the last match, Pierson was pinned by Paine Delarm at heavyweight.
Iowa City Regina beat North Cedar in the final dual. Junior Miles McCullough opened the dual with a forfeit at 120 pounds. Taylor got pinned his Regina foe with 1:09 left in the first period at 126. Galloway was up 5-0 on Will Bobst at 138 when he pinned the Regina wrestler 6.5 seconds left in the second period. Willis at 152 and Thurston at 160 won by forfeit for the Regals before Boleyn was pinned in the second period by Nick Milder at 170. Gallagher was behind, 5-2, when he was pinned by Rowan Udell. At heavyweight, top-ranked Jared Brinkman took Pierson quickly and pinned him in 1:46.
