Prep basketball roundup: Smith-Drahos’ free throws lift Prairie over 3A No. 1 Wahlert

Reported boys' and girls' basketball scores and summaries from Tuesday's games involving Iowa City and Cedar Rapids metro schools.
BOYS
CEDAR RAPIDS PRAIRIE 57, DUBUQUE WAHLERT 56
Cedar Rapids Prairie nearly held the lead throughout the fourth quarter, but trailed by one with 12 seconds remaining against 3A No. 1 Dubuque Wahlert.
Max Smith-Drahos was sent to the line with the Hawks (4-1, 2-0 MVC) in the double bonus and drained both free throws to seal the 57-56 victory at home and give the Golden Eagles (4-1, 1-1 MVC) their first loss of the season.
Wahlert's Cordell Pemsl scored a game-high 18 points.
LINN-MAR 67, IOWA CITY HIGH 53
Jordan Bohannon scored a game-high 20 points with five 3-pointers to lead No. 10 Linn-Mar to the win in Iowa City. Beau Klosterman added 17 points with three 3-pointers while Jared Printy added 13 points. The Lions made 13 3-pointers.
Naheem Smith led Iowa City High with 12 points while Jason Jones added 10 points.
CEDAR RAPIDS XAVIER 65, DUBUQUE SENIOR 55
Mitch Burger and Max Techau each scored 16 points and led four Saints in double figures in Cedar Rapids. Matt Mims added 14 points, while Jackson Joens tallied 10 points for the ninth-ranked (3A) Saints.
BENTON COMMUNITY 50, MARION 33
The Bobcats (2-4, 2-1 Wamac West) led 23-21 at the halftime and pulled away from the Indians (3-3, 2-1) in the second half in Van Horne. Tucker Schroeder led all scorers with 13 points and Chase Zielke, Baylor Fish and Chris Mohwinkle each scored six points for Marion.
WATERLOO WEST 65, CEDAR RAPIDS JEFFERSON 57
A pretty even game got tilted when the J-Hawks shot just 43 percent from the line in Waterloo.
Green scored a team-high 14 points for the J-Hawks, followed by Van Oort with 12
IOWA CITY WEST 71, WATERLOO EAST 50 — Devontae Lane scored 20 points and helped the top-ranked Trojans during a 20-3 third quarter run to spark Iowa City West in Waterloo.
Connor McCaffery added 15 points and seven assists for the Trojans (4-1).
MONTICELLO 58, IOWA CITY REGINA 48 (OT)
Derek Mantemach scored a game-high 27 points while Andrew Tjaden added 11 points as Monticello won at home.
Sam Stein paced Regina with 16 points while Nathan Stenger tallied 14.
GIRLS
MARION 50, BENTON COMMUNITY 39
4A No. 6 Marion was led by a three-headed monster of Maddie Knapp, Chloe Rise and Mia Laube, all leading the Indians in scoring with 14 points each. Marion was especially effective getting to the free throw line, doubling Benton's total 14-7.
Benton was led by Van Weblden, who had a game-high 15 points.
CEDAR RAPIDS JEFFERSON 60, WATERLOO WEST 39
Kennedy Dighton and Emily Oler scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, and Sammy Kitterman chipped in 10 to lead Jefferson in a win over Waterloo West at home.
IOWA CITY WEST 63, WATERLOO EAST 12
Rachel Saunders had 20 points to lead the 15th-ranked Women of Troy in a blowout in Iowa City.
CEDAR RAPIDS XAVIER 69, DUBUQUE SENIOR 45
McKenna Andersen and Amelea Ivester each scored 13 points and Meghan Joens added 11 for Xavier (3-4, 2-2 MVC) in a win in Dubuque. The Saints collected 48 rebounds, led by Jessica Callahan with eight.
Sydney Tigges paced Senior with 11 points.
DUBUQUE WAHLERT 62, CEDAR RAPIDS PRAIRIE 46
Charlotte Flynn scored a game-high 18 points to lead Dubuque Wahlert at home. Olivia Usher scored 11 points and had four assists, while Halle Person added nine points for the Prairie Hawks (4-3).
